If you like radishes, they can be a fun early crop. You won't need much space—just a couple of square feet. Pick a warm day in April and plant a couple of 2 foot long rows spacing the seeds 2 inches apart. Watch for the little sprouts and weed them once or twice in the next couple of weeks. You'll probably have a crop in 30-35 days. Eat 'em with salt or try them sliced thin on a bread and butter sandwich.

Did You Know?

Garlic is usually planted in the fall after the harvesting of other crops is completed. It gets its develops a good root system before it gets too cold. It sends up a few a couple of green shoots, but stops growing when the hard winter weather hits. Then it "sleeps" in the ground all winter and starts growing as soon as the ground thaws. Usually it's harvested around July 4th. Can you think of any other vegetables that "sleep" in the ground only to emerge in the spring? (Hint: It's green and pointy)
